In our cohort of 21, there are four July birthdays. Apparently, Ugandans may celebrate birthdays with a cake, but are much more fond of pouring water on the birthday person. Several people were late to class Monday because they were stalking a birthday boy to douse him – he, being wise, had been hiding.
This made me so, so glad that my birthday is in December, when I’ll safely be in the US. But no. That won’t do. I’ve been told that they’ll be “celebrating” my birthday on August 20 – the day after exams, and the day that most folks will go home.
Yeah, I feel the love…
Then I'll bring them to the Elliott's for demolding… heh, heh, heh…
Ah heck, just pack your wet clothes in plastic bags and stuff them in. They outta be nice and ripe by the time you get to this hemisphere….heh, heh, heh….
Jeez Heidi – I thought you were supposed to be on MY side! And I'd need my clothes to dry so I can pack them… so here's to Jackson's forgetting. Not likely, but a girl can dream.
Don't tempt me, Suzy!! Sounds like a fabulous idea to keep Jessica in the "uganda" mode!
I hope they take photos!
Loving you, Heidi
I told Jackson that he was welcome to come to the US to douse me on my actual birthday. Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen.
Frankly, I'm hoping that he'll forget…
Hmmm…water soaking in December. Might be a little chilly in Virginia but amusing.Suzy
