Spiritual Direction

What is spiritual direction? To me, it’s a listening together to the Lord, seeking to hear His voice and His invitation.

Currently, I am receiving spiritual direction training through Leadership Transformations’ Selah Certificate Program, and I expect to graduate in September 2025. It has been a joy and an honor to learn to sit with people as they sit with the Lord. I have been in spiritual traction myself for several years, I am having found it to be invaluable to have someone listen with me and discern with me.

If you are wondering whether spiritual direction is right for you, I would love to talk with you! Please email me at Jessica [at] jessicahughes [dot] net.

Before we talk, it would be helpful if you would answer these questions:

1.  What brings you to seek spiritual direction at this time?

2.   What are your desires/hopes in seeking spiritual direction?

3.   Briefly describe your prayer life:

4.  Briefly describe your relationship with God today.  Who is God in your everyday life?

5. Think back over your spiritual life, and reflect on the highs and lows, moments of breakthrough, stagnant times, and periods of growth.  Please describe the ups and downs of your pilgrimage in a paragraph or two.  Feel free to use words, draw a sketch–anything you want to use that describes your spiritual journey.

Here I Am

I’m Jessica Hughes, an Anglican priest serving at Uganda Christian University through the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders (SAMS). “Here I am” is both an answer to the geographical question “WHERE are you?” and a nod to my favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 6:8.
