Last fall, Amos asked me to bring an expensive piece of audio/visual equipment with me when I returned to Uganda, as the Chaplaincy wanted to start recording and posting their services online. Once we worked out small little details like which model to get and last-minute add-ons, I had it packed in my carry-on, and was ready to come back. As a side note, this equipment also saved me from one of the capricious enforcements of a carry-on policy, as that particular carry-on has been with me on something like 15 flights to and from Uganda and is well within regulation, yet for some reason, KLM deemed that on this particular flight the bag needed to be checked, both at Dulles and in Amsterdam. Thankfully, no one wanted to be responsible for said equipment, and it remained a carry-on. #thankyouJesus
Amos sent me a photo of what the equipment looked like in action when I was preaching last fall, and it was very cool to see that I had a role in moving the Chaplaincy forward in where they wanted to be. Fast forward to today, and the Chaplaincy has launched its own YouTube channel! I’m pretty excited about this: we have some pretty great speakers and preachers, especially for the Mission Week each semester, and this means that we’ll have a long-awaited archive.
The channel begins with the Pentecost service, which I think has some agreeable symmetry, since Pentecost is the beginning of the church. Incidentally, yours truly is the preacher (and I had no idea the service would be posted). The sermon begins at 1:29:04, and is a little later than usual because of a thanksgiving from the Musiime family, who gave a wonderful remembrance of Canon Musiime.
I’m sure that in the future I’ll be posting links to various preachers – stay tuned!
