OK, so I’m not in Uganda to experience the papal excitement, though the country has been in overdrive the last few months preparing Namugongo, the site of the Uganda Martyrs, as well as the main road leading to Namugongo, to receive the Pope. Improvements include repaving the road, digging new ditches, paving them (with flagstone; it’s gorgeous), landscaping, painting, and all around sprucing.
One of the things I love about Uganda is that media will post blatantly Christian, if not evangelical, articles such as this one:

Wasn’t there a time at which American news outlets reported this way?
The Church of Uganda has good coverage of the Pope’s visit. While the majority of his visit at Namugongo was at the Catholic shrine, he did visit the Anglican shrine, as that is the site where the martyrs were actually killed. I love that after his visit to the Anglican shrine, he, along with the Anglican Archbishop, invited the crowd to join him in the Lord’s Prayer, which how Jesus taught us to pray (Luke 11:1-4) .
That, my friends, is ecumenism. May it increase.
