Sleepy and stressed seminarians

July 17, 2009

Thank God it’s Friday. We had a Hebrew test this morning, and someone said that none of us went to bed before 2 AM. I think that’s probably right. We also had a paper due today, have three due next week, plus a presentation, and a test. Then we have one last week of classes, then revision (reading) week, then exams.

I was sufficiently out of it in Hebrew that I apparently forgot what continent I was on. In Uganda, when you get a test paper, you get out your own paper to write the answers. The tests are generally essays, so that works. I, however, did the American thing and put my answers on that sheet (in my defense, there was room. We are in the chapel on Fridays, so there’s no blackboard, which is usually how she gives the test, by writing what she wants us to do on the board. However, as we planned this last week, I was already thinking I’d be writing on the test paper). I didn’t realize that I had goofed until I was done. Thankfully, when I apologized to the lecturer, she let me submit that and not rewrite my answers.

After lunch I took a three-hour nap, and almost feel human again. So now it’s on to the leadership successes and failures of the kings of Israel.

So glad you had a nap! Please do that when you can so you can stay healthy during these crazy last weeks. Praying that Hebrews went well in spite of it all… Heidi
