It’s now July. I arrived in January this year, and it feels like I just got here. I realized the other day that this is due in part that there are no seasons here. It’s always summer. Well, there are seasons: rainy and dry. It makes me laugh when people say things like “it always affects me when the weather changes,” because to me, it’s just either raining or not. But they can tell the difference.
But the lack of measurable season changes really messes with my sense of time. When I arrived, my desktop picture was of the December snow. I only changed it when people on Facebook were commenting on the spring weather – it didn’t dawn on me that the seasons changed with the calendar anymore. Goodness!
