Benefits of procrastination

January 23, 2016

I have had this bulletin board for well over a year, and haven’t been able to decide what to do with it. My original plan was to take it to the office, but that won’t work for a number of reasons. For the longest time, I thought I couldn’t put it on the wall, so it has stood vertically to the left of the desk, so I could use a tiny portion of the real estate.

Then, today, while working on my sermon (for tomorrow, nonetheless) it dawned on me that there is one hook already in the wall under the fan, and all I’d have to do is add another hook. I tested the board to see whether it would fit under the fan, and it fit perfectly.

This launched me into a period of procrastination, because naturally, I couldn’t resume work until this project was finished. I knew I had hooks, but I couldn’t remember where I put them. Then I found them, but I don’t have a hammer. This explains the screwdriver and spade, which did the job splendidly.

NOW I can finish my sermon. But now I need to resist the temptation to put everything on the bulletin board that wants to be there.
