Thank you all so much for your prayers for Uganda on Wednesday! I had to run errands in Mukono town on Thursday, and I asked the people I met at their businesses if they were safe. Thankfully they were, and one told me that much of it had been happening right in the middle of town across from the supermarket I was about to enter.
This morning, the published death toll from Wednesday was at 19, but I heard that had been revised to 34. The opposition candidate who’s arrest prompted all the riots was to be arraigned today. There were some sporadic riots today, though nothing happened here.
Please continue to pray; we have two months until the election, and if the president is reelected, I do not see things remaining calm. I’ll be stocking up on staples in late December/early January to minimize the need to go into Kampala, though protests and riots can happen at any time.
